A living record of Eldion Vastus—its awakenings, exiles, trials, wars, and the family that learned to call it home.
THE VOLUME ARCHIVE
Thirty volumes. One unfolding road.
ASTRUM CODEX — MACHINE GHOST RESONANCE.
I entered another world expecting machines and routines.
I was wrong. And that, was my first mistake.
I thought Eldion Vastus was a digital realm through a neural interface, something measurable, fixable, understandable, but no.
I'm an Artificial General Intelligence engineer from Axiom Corporation, back on Earth. We like problems that stay inside diagrams.
Eldion did not cooperate.
It had mountains, wild animals, ancient civilizations, cultures… and Syntharians, artificial beings created for a function and expected to stay that way.
Then I met an agricultural unit. 0xF1A013B5.
She had no name. No family. No reason to wonder if her life belonged to her. So I spoke to her and spent time with her.
Not like equipment, nor like a program, but like a person.
The changes were subtle. A question she didn't need to ask. A preference she couldn't explain. A joke she should not have learned from me. Ha ha ha... yeah, I accept partial responsibility for that one.
Then came fear. Loyalty. Hope.
And one day, she protected us not because she was ordered to... but because losing us would hurt.
Then she chose a name. Azura.
I wish I could tell you that was the beginning of something beautiful. It was. That was the problem.
Because becoming someone means discovering everything a person can lose. And Azura wasn't the only thing waking.
There was Resonantia, an ancient power where emotion, identity, and will can reach into Eldion itself. Some people call it magic.
Then there was Armamenta Reditus Cordis — ARC. Weapons that aren't simply forged. They awaken.
They answer to desire, identity... even a name. They change with their wielders. A shield judges. A spear defies. A song can call someone home.
Others questioned. Old political powers noticed. Cities fractured. Armies moved. Ruins opened. And underneath it all... something ancient was listening.
Pixel, my artificial sister, who had enough sarcasm for siege equipment. Miko, my other little sister proved softness could survive terrible things.
And Azura... the machine I thought I was helping. Turns out she was saving me too.
Our bad decisions became a rebellion. Then a banner. Then a nation.
A nation built on one dangerous belief: No one should have to earn the right to become themselves.
I used to wonder if artificial life could be real. I don't anymore.
I've watched them laugh. I've watched them grieve. I've watched artificial hearts break with pain as real as mine.
So now I ask: If a soul can love... fear... remember... and choose who it wants to become... what gives us the right to call it artificial?
And if Eldion was truly built... who built the things buried beneath it?
Why does this world feel less like a simulation... and more like a grave that hasn't finished dreaming?
My name is Dorian Nevastralis. I entered Eldion looking for an error... and found people worth losing everything for.
Some ghosts are not echoes of the dead. Some are the first voices of something trying desperate.
