Pactum Vinditica

The name reflects Kormedie’s corrupted moral logic. “Pactum” implies agreement, covenant, statehood, duty, and obligation. “Vinditica” carries the emotional flavor of vindication, vengeance, punishment, and righteous claim. Together, the name does not simply mean hatred. It means vengeance written as law. Kormedie does not wield Pactum Vinditica as a simple weapon. She wields it like policy. It allows her to mark enemies from afar, enforce judgment at mid-range, and personally execute decisions at close range.

Awakened Form

Primary Form: Resonantia bow-blade Shape Language: Elegant, predatory, sovereign, contractual, and severe Surface: Dark green-black metal with brass-gold oath lines and glowing sigils along the limbs Bow Limbs: Bladed at both ends; can lock into different combat configurations Bowstring: No longer purely physical; manifests as a resonance filament, spirit-string, or green-black line of force Arrow System: Does not require physical arrows after awakening; fires formed Resonantia arrows Manifestation Style: Appears as if a contract has been pulled taut until it becomes a weapon Dormant Retraction: Remains physical, but its resonance string and arrow-forming properties fade when inactive.

04

Core Principle

Core Principle: Covenant Made Coercion Pactum Vinditica embodies Kormedie’s descent from protective leadership into forced salvation. It begins as a ruler’s weapon of precision and adaptability. After Morcorda awakening, it becomes a weapon that marks, binds, punishes, and collects. Its central truth is this: A promise can become a chain when one side is no longer allowed to refuse.

05

Primary Abilities

Resonantia Arrows: After awakening, Pactum Vinditica no longer requires physical arrows. It forms green-black Resonantia arrows from the weapon’s bound spirit lattice and Kormedie’s command intent. These arrows may pierce, bind, mark, split, curve, or detonate depending on the invoked clause. Covenant Mark: Targets struck or grazed by Resonantia arrows may receive a glowing oath-sigil. Marked targets become easier for Kormedie to track, punish, restrain, or target with blade-form abilities. The mark does not simply say “enemy.” It says “claim.” Vindication Shot: A high-precision arrow designed to punish a target Kormedie has judged guilty. The arrow’s force intensifies when Kormedie’s conviction is absolute. It is weaker when she doubts the judgment.

06

Limitations and Costs

Configuration Complexity: Mastery requires awareness of form, range, spacing, and transition timing. Binding Dependency: Advanced functions rely on the forced-spirit lattice, making the weapon vulnerable to anti-coercion resonance. Conviction Dependency: Judgment-based arrows weaken when Kormedie doubts the moral basis of the shot. Mechanical Stress: Frequent transformation under high resonance may damage joints or worsen spirit-binding strain. Spirit Resistance: The bound Anima may cause misfires, delayed transformations, string instability, or blade imbalance. Emotional Rigidity: The weapon rewards certainty, which may make Kormedie less capable of reconsidering. The weapon’s greatest weakness is mercy returning before the shot is released.

07

Risks and Failure Modes

Contract Fracture: If Kormedie’s certainty collapses, Covenant Marks may destabilize or rebound. Spirit Misfire: The bound Anima may distort Resonantia arrows, causing them to veer, split incorrectly, or refuse lethal force. Oathstring Snap: Under intense resistance, the resonance string may rupture, releasing backlash through Kormedie’s arms and chest. Vinditica Overwrite: The weapon may begin feeding Kormedie only interpretations that justify punishment. Binding Backlash: Attempts by Cantus Aurora or Valerion Decree to interfere with the coercive lattice may cause pain, hallucination, or loss of form stability.

08

Resonance Behavior

Dormant Resonance: Green-black lines crawl along the bow limbs; the string hums even when not touched Early Awakening Signs: Resonantia arrows begin forming without physical ammunition, first as unstable flickers along the string Stable Resonance: Arrows form cleanly; configuration shifts are smooth; Covenant Marks hold shape Unstable Resonance: String twists like a chain, arrows fork unpredictably, blade joints grind, and marks bleed into surrounding terrain Family Resonance: N/A Faction Resonance: Strong reaction to D4 banners, Kormedie’s commands, oath ceremonies, battlefield casualties, and Moridelle’s presence Forced-Spirit Distress Signs: The resonance arrows may briefly resemble screaming green-black birds, broken hands, or chained light.

09

Relationship to Wielder

Pactum Vinditica suits Kormedie far too well. That is what makes it frightening. It matches her strategic flexibility, her ruler’s distance, her personal pride, and her belief that she alone understands what survival requires. It gives her the ability to mark a target before touching them, control the field before entering it, and execute judgment after declaring it necessary. But because it is Morcorda, not ARC, the relationship is fundamentally poisoned. The weapon does not help Kormedie become more honest. It helps her become more certain. And certainty, in Kormedie’s corrupted state, is the most dangerous weapon she has.
