Overview
“Cold keeps the blood honest. Steel keeps the heart from breaking. We are not warm—but we are alive.”
— Yelena Draikova, survivor of the Ural Siege
Born from the collapse of two northern titans, Zimovya Reach is the jagged union of post-apocalyptic Russia and Canada. Once split by ocean and language, now fused by desperation, war, and a shared love for survival in the frostbitten dark. The Collision forced tectonic shifts and planar ruptures that reconnected these lands—pulling continents close while pushing humanity further from comfort.
Zimovya Reach is a land of:
Frost-wreathed bunkers buried in mountain spines
Rune-forges belching steam into aurora-lit skies
Forests stalked by beasts that remember the old gods
Rail-cities that crawl across the tundra like iron leviathans
The Reach is cold—but not lifeless.
It breathes with every rattling furnace. It remembers with every rune-etched ruin.
Geography
Zimovya Reach spans a vast, diverse territory—its climate as fractured as its past.
The Vosturg Line (Eastern Industrial Corridor)
A region of megafactories, steam towers, and ruined pipeline cities
Once part of post-Siberian industry—now fused with northern Alberta and the Yukon
Houses the Forge Cities: interconnected urban sprawls powered by rune reactors and molten cores
Sky always choked in smoke, snow falling ash-grey
The Whisperwood Belt (Temperate Transition Zone)
A rare breath of warmth—dense forests and wetland plains between the icefields
Where Canadian nature clashes with warped Eurasian ley-lines
Populated by druidic communes, mutated wildlife, and forgotten weather domes
The ground hums at night, as if dreaming beneath the moss
The Aetherstep Tundra (Central Northlands)
Windswept and brutal—endless white horizon, haunted by sound
Crossed by mobile rail-cities that run on psionic track-beacons
Site of the Frozen Choir Massacre, where Overwatch forces slaughtered resistance psyons
Said to hide pre-Collision ruins older than memory
The Radial Vaults (Mountain Range Borderlands)
Jagged ranges between former Rockies and Urals
Entire ranges hollowed out into military vaults and fallout sanctuaries
Still governed by AI warlords and rogue automated defense systems
Home to rogue Dämmerlicht echoes and forbidden tech-tombs
Southmere Provinces (Temperate South)
Milder climate, farmland reclaimed with rune-aided growth
Where surviving cities mimic pre-Collision normalcy
But corruption simmers beneath the surface: black markets, cults, and failed biotech experiments
Often overlooked, but home to rising political dissent
Culture and Life
Clothing: Layered thermal gear, steam-filtered masks, rune-heated furs, and armor-patched coats
Housing: Bunkers converted to homes, rail-cars used as houses, wood-metal hybrid settlements in warm zones
Cuisine: Bone stews, fermented rootbread, and meat cured in frost; synthetics grown in glowrooms
Beliefs: Blends Slavic mysticism, ancestral AI worship, and rune-born animism. Some pray to “The Ember Choir”—a network of sleeping psionic minds
Art & Resistance: Ice-sculpted murals, smuggled songcrystals, steam ballet, graffiti with encrypted messages
In Zimovya Reach, joy is not abundant—but it is earned.
