Overview
“You’ll see the lights in the snow long before you reach the walls. Not warm lights. Not welcoming lights. The kind that say: we’re still alive… and we’re armed enough to stay that way.”
— Yelena Moroz, Zimovyan convoy scout and frost-route guide
📜Overview
Molnikov Core is the fortified capital city of Zimovya Reach, built across a frozen industrial basin where pre-Calamity foundations still punch through the ice like broken teeth.
Once a small northern logistics hub, Molnikov grew into a post-Calamity stronghold through necessity: it became the region’s largest surviving center of manufacturing, refining, and cold-zone military infrastructure, serving as both a political capital and a survival engine.
Today, Molnikov Core is known for its brutal efficiency, iron discipline, and the chilling truth that nothing is wasted—not heat, not fuel, not scrap, and definitely not manpower.
Symbols: A black gear over a snowflake, split by a vertical lightning bolt
Archetype: Frozen capital, industrial fortress-city, survival technocracy
Alignment: Lawful Neutral, with factions leaning Lawful Good or Lawful Evil
Operating Philosophy: “Endure the cold. Control the desperate.”
🌞Atmosphere & Vibe
Molnikov Core doesn’t feel like a city.
It feels like a machine that decided civilization was an acceptable side-effect.
The skyline is low and heavy—smoke stacks, crane towers, iron catwalks, coolant pipes, antenna grids. Entire blocks are built in layered shells, with inner housing districts protected behind thick plating and thermal walls.
You hear Molnikov before you see it:
Steam vents screaming into the blizzard
Cargo chains rattling like bones
Factory sirens marking shift changes like prayers
Boots clapping on rusted stairwells
The low, constant hum of heaters fighting a war they will never win
The air always tastes faintly of:
oil, burnt metal, and frostbite.
At night, the city glows pale blue and industrial orange—half-lit lamps, flickering signage, emergency beacons on towers—like the whole place is running on stubbornness and backup generators.
🧕Culture & Life
Molnikov’s people are hardened in a way outsiders mistake for cruelty.
They aren’t cruel.
They’re cold-trained.
Daily life revolves around survival order:
Heat rationing schedules
Food-block distribution
Work rotations monitored like military duty
Medical priority laws (productive citizens get treated first)
Despite its severity, the city has deep, quiet humanity—expressed through small rituals:
Shared soup lines where nobody speaks, but nobody leaves anyone behind
“Wall chalk” memorials—names written in grease pencil on iron panels
Hand-warmed medallions worn under coats, engraved with dead family initials
Children taught to count by ammo and ration tokens before they learn poetry
Clothing is mostly practical:
Fur-lined coats reinforced with scrap plating
Face wraps to prevent frost-lung exposure
Thermal goggles with cracked lenses
Tool-belts worn like holy vestments
⚖️Law & Power
Molnikov Core is governed under a rigid structure called the:
The Core Authority
A ruling bloc made up of:
The Foundry Council (industrial leaders and refinery bosses)
The Frostguard Directorate (city military and border enforcement)
The Heat Commission (resource control, rationing, and energy law)
The Grey Clinic Syndicate (medical authority with frightening power)
Justice is immediate and harsh—because Molnikov believes hesitation gets people killed.
Common “Core Offenses” include:
Heat theft
Food hoarding
Salvage fraud
Black market CNE implant trading
Unauthorized exploration contracts (especially near Solace Reliquary)
Punishments range from forced labor to exile into the whiteout wastes known as:
The Cold Beyond.
🏘️Districts
🧱 The Core Wall (Central Bastion)
The innermost plated district containing:
Government halls
Military command
Emergency vaults
The city’s primary heat reactor systems
This area is heavily patrolled, camera-watched, and thermally shielded.
🏭 Foundry Spine
Molnikov’s industrial heart—refineries, pressworks, and manufacturing lanes.
Neuracite-compatible forging experiments occur here (rare, restricted)
Smog and ice mix into a permanent grey haze
Entire blocks are loud enough to drown out gunfire
🏚️ The Frostshanties
Outer-ring housing built from:
crashed cargo containers
armored train cars
collapsed storefront shells
A survival district for laborers, refugees, scavengers—and people who can’t afford warmth.
🚂 Railgrave Junction
A dead rail-yard turned into a semi-active transit artery.
Some trains still move
Nobody knows who maintains them
Some cars are sealed and humming… don’t open them
🧪 The Grey Clinic Quarter
A cold, clean district where medicine becomes politics.
Surgical cybernetic upgrades
Frost-lung treatments
Neural stabilization therapy
CNE-related testing (officially denied)
Rumors say the clinic holds patients “for observation” who never return.
🧭Key Locations
🏛️ The Core Furnace (Central Heat Reactor)
A massive heat-distribution hub beneath the city.
It’s worshipped like a god by some, feared by everyone else.
🔩 The Molnikov Pressworks
The largest surviving pre-Calamity industrial press systems in Zimovya Reach.
Capable of forming reinforced alloy plates… and crushing riots in minutes if needed.
🕯️ The White Candle Memorial Hall
A steel cathedral-like building filled with quiet alcoves.
People light heat-stones here for the dead.
The stones don’t burn long. But they burn long enough.
🛰️ Frostguard Spire
A surveillance tower used to track:
convoy routes
bandit raids
airborne anomalies
Kumokuni intrusion events (rare but catastrophic)
The Spire’s lights are visible for kilometers—unless it’s offline.
If it’s offline?
People start packing.
🕳️ Reliquary Route Marker 7
A battered waypoint station on the frozen outskirts.
It marks the last “safe” distance from the Solace Reliquary region before anomalies increase.
Locals don’t say “good luck.”
They say:
“Come back as yourself.”
✨Points of Interest
The Gear Markets — legal salvage auctions by day, illegal tech deals by night
The Steam Baths — cramped underground warmth rooms where deals, prayers, and fistfights happen equally
The Hollow Choir — a street cult that sings to broken machines, believing they “remember the old world”
The Black Ice Arena — a brutal combat ring used to settle debts when courts aren’t fast enough
The Last Signal Bar — a radio-filled tavern where people listen for voices from beyond the snow…
