The Long Road to Skoii Skax
🎭 MQ1 – "The Road to Skax"
The party departs Stonegale Reach, hitching a ride with Uncle Yoni and Auntie Temera, an older couple in a half-functional hover truck. They're kind, humble, and clearly carrying their own sorrow—but welcome the PCs like their own.
Moments:
PCs sit in the back, watching forest and wasteland blur by
Temera offers hand-stitched scarves, each one mismatched but warm
Yoni calls them “kids,” even if they're adults—gently, like he used to say to his granddaughter
Optional Hook:
Temera reads aloud from a paperbound book. One PC remembers the same story from childhood—but doesn’t know how.
🎭 MQ2 – "Convoy of Ghosts"
Midway through the journey, the group encounters a slow-moving convoy of refugees, traveling the opposite direction—away from Skoii Skax. There's tension. Exhaustion. Grief.
Events:
PCs speak with parents, widows, displaced ex-miners
A pregnant woman breaks down mid-conversation, realizing they’ve run out of clean water
One refugee begs the PCs not to go to Skoii Skax. “It’s not a city—it’s a cage.”
🎭 MQ3 – "The Wings of Misfortune"
Without warning, a massive black wyvern breaks through the cloud cover—an unnatural, silent flyer. Its massive wings send shockwaves through the canyon road.
Event:
A cart from the convoy is blown off the cliffside. Screams echo.
Choice:
PCs can intervene—jumping, grappling, casting to save it
If they succeed, they save a young girl, but her parents perish
Emotional Beat:
At night, the girl offers them the only thing she has left:
A delicate flower with an azure bloom and yellow center.“Mama called it a Mistbloom. She said it grows where people cry.”
🎭 MQ4 – "Rings and Ruins"
A day later, the PCs leave their camp briefly to check on a signal spike or investigate a sidequest (optional lead). When they return—the fire is out. The laughter is gone. The truck is still.
Scene:
Auntie Temera is found dead, shielding the girl’s broken doll
Uncle Yoni was dragged, shot, and stripped of his rings
The girl is gone—taken, or perhaps fled in terror
Repercussions:
Yoni’s last words (found recorded on an old comm):
“Tell them... not everything needs to be taken. Some things are meant to stay.”
Emotional Themes:
Helplessness
Rage
The price of looking away, even briefly
🎭 MQ5 – "Ashes in Bloom"
The party buries the couple near a lonely tree. Temera’s scarf is tied to the branch. It flutters like a banner the wind refuses to carry far.
Choices:
PCs can vow vengeance—track the raiders through sidequests in Skoii Skax
Keep the Mistbloom, now wilted, as a token of what was lost
Use the memory of the couple to influence future choices—no more looking the other way
🎭 MQ6 – "Skoii Skax on the Horizon"
As the sun sets, the distant spires of Skoii Skax pierce the horizon. Neon. Smoke. Metal veins running through desert mountains.
First Impressions:
Armed checkpoints with corporate insignias
Locals talk in hushed voices about miners going missing
Posters offer contracts, bounties, and transport—but no one leaves Skoii for free
Hook for Chapter 7:
A half-burned flyer flutters into a PC’s hand:
“Looking for work? Strong backs wanted. No questions. East Shaft, Level 3.”
