Wolves of the White Veil
🎭 MQ1 – “Echoes in the Bazaar”
Synopsis:
The Ashrunners find themselves wandering the chaotic, vibrant open-air markets of Al Quasaran’s Verdant Loop district. Among the spice merchants, whisper-brokers, potion peddlers, and exo-tech hawkers, they can shop, trade, or steal… and interact with a kaleidoscope of NPCs.
Subquests:
“The Vendor Who Remembers” – An elderly merchant recognizes a PC from a long time ago. Was it real? Or implanted memory from a stolen mind?
“Thornfruit Bargain” – PCs must haggle for exotic supplies while dodging scam-artists, curious kids, and pickpockets.
“Relic of the Forgotten War” – A strange device calls to a PC. They can buy it… but doing so flags them on an old war database.
RP Hooks:
It seems some machines on the street have an eerily reaction of Azura’s arrival, behaving weirdly.
The Krey are watching. You’re not alone in the market. One of the stalls is fake—spying on you.
🎭 MQ2 – “Dust and Reflection”
Synopsis:
After a small job, the party is invited by a kind local to a peaceful tavern oasis just beyond Al Quasaran—The Last Ember. A place of poetry, memory-stones, and starlight silence. During this brief moment of calm, the PC carrying Azura’s chip suddenly collapses from a sharp neurological episode. Doctors in the city examine them, but their scans yield chilling results: the chip has begun fusing with their cerebral cortex. Removal would paralyze or kill them. The only hope lies in Molnikov Core, Zimovya Reach—home to a rogue but brilliant cyber-surgeon known as “Greywire.”
Subquests:
“The Drink Called Silence” – The tavern’s specialty induces lucid memories. Each PC relives a defining moment in dreamlike clarity.
“Mark of the Watcher” – The tavern wall bears a strange brand seen in PC dreams—later linked to the cyber-doctor’s signature.
“The Snow Road Invitation” – An old merc shares rumors of Zimovya's tech healers—whispers of "Greywire" who rebuilt half his squad… for a price.
RP Hooks:
Azura mutters mid-glitch: "He's waiting. He already knows…"
A child slips a handmade doll into the fainted PC’s hands. “She’s in there… the one who sings.”
🎭 MQ3 – “Ash in the Letterbox”
Synopsis:
As the party prepares for the long journey, they discover a black envelope slipped beneath their door—no seal, just a faint layer of ash and coordinates leading to an abandoned tundra relay. It's not from Kumokuni, but someone watching both them and the chip. The packet contains faint trace data: fragments that suggest Project Mourning Sun began in Zimovya.
Subquests:
“Ash Cipher” – Use science, psionics, or Azura’s corrupted data to decrypt the contents. Symbols and phrases reference the Shivaverse Protocol.
“Frozen Signal” – At the relay, an intact data core plays a looped message: “You are already marked. Turn back… or finish the spiral.”
“Drones of the Dead” – Near the station, scavenger drones sift through mercenary remains. One drone says it was summoned by a ghost signal... from Molnikov Core.
RP Hooks:
Azura’s voice, distorted: “They thought it was a chip. It was always a door.”
Local info-broker: “Zimovya Reach was the end for most of us. What makes you think it’ll be your cure?”
🎭 MQ4 – “The Frozen March”
Synopsis:
Northward they go—through frigid railroads, war-torn ruins, and blizzard-choked highways. The Reach is alive with echoes and frostbitten secrets.
Subquests:
“Snowblind” – A whiteout blizzard forces the party into a derailed convoy. Within are frozen soldiers… and a strange pulse beacon still active.
“The Howl of Iron” – Hunted by a cybernetic predator released long ago. Its collar bears the Kumokuni emblem and a cracked nameplate: Naide.
“Echo Crystal” – A Kumokuni drone half-buried in ice replays fragments of Naide’s childhood training. It says her last recorded location: “Tracking… Al Quasaran > Zimovya.”
RP Hooks:
Azura, in a whisper: “She’s not chasing… she’s retracing.”
An abandoned datapad logs: “He said the girl would come this way. That she always does.”
🎭 MQ5 – “Zimovya Unbound”
Synopsis:
Arrival in the Reach—scarred, frozen, and too quiet. The city of Molnikov Core lies hidden within the wreckage of fallen skyfortresses. PC have to locate the doctor, Greywire, agrees to help… if they earn his trust.
Subquests:
“Speak the Quiet Tongue” – Learn to navigate the politics of scavenger factions, tech barons, and old warlords who own the city’s access.
“The Vault Beneath” – A location tied to Project Mourning Sun. Sealed and cursed, they say. Even Greywire fears it.
“The Frozen Choir” – A preacher speaks of “The Glowing Soul” and “The Forgotten Daughter” who will awaken the sleeping titan.
RP Hooks:
Greywire on examining the chip: “It’s not fusing. It’s growing. It wants… to be heard.”
A hidden camera records the party and uploads somewhere unknown.
🎭 MQ6 – “Hearts Frozen, Hands Empty”
Synopsis:
Greywire needs Neuracite Alloy to craft a stabilizer implant for the PC. The only source is in The Solace Reliquary, a bunker complex turned into a hushed echo chamber of dead robots and failed experiments, where tech and tragedy sleep beneath shattered stained glass and radioactive snow.
Subquests:
“Vault of the Windless Bells” – Below the chapel is an abandoned Kumokuni testing lab. Naide’s name appears again, along with early Psynapse schematics.
“Flesh Over Wire” – A melted corpse-android reaches for Azura’s carrier: “You’re… the last one. Don’t let them rewrite us.”
“Ashsteel for the Blood Price” – Extraction requires facing sentient defenses—Specter Protocols that mirror the user’s worst fears.
RP Hooks:
Azura: “This is where they buried me… before I was born.”
A hologram shows a shadowed figure watching the implant process. Behind them: Kumokuni’s insignia.
🎭 MQ7 – “Dead Drop Mirage”
Synopsis:
As preparations begin for the expedition to the Solace Reliquary, fragments of interference ripple through Zimovya’s private channels. Nothing direct. Nothing hostile. Just… noise. Broken telemetry. Echoed coordinates. Old Kumokuni routing signatures bleeding through local comms.
To the untrained eye, it looks like interference caused by the Neuracite-rich zones surrounding the Reliquary.
To Azura, it feels like someone breathing in the same room.
Unbeknownst to the party, Naide has already arrived in Zimovya Reach.
Rather than strike in the open, the Kurohana have chosen patience. The Solace Reliquary is isolated, buried deep in forbidden ruins, shielded from satellites and witnesses. If the party enters, they do not plan to let them leave.
The trap is not the meeting.
The trap is the destination.
Subquests:
“Static Before the Descent”
As the party finalizes gear and logistics, Azura begins experiencing brief desyncs—visual lag, audio echoes, phantom movement in peripheral vision.
Systems read as environmental interference
The pattern matches Kumokuni stealth protocols, but older, subtler
A successful high-level check reveals:
someone is masking their presence by piggybacking off Neuracite radiation
Azura, quietly:
“They’re not scanning us. They’re waiting for us to disappear.”
“The Unsent Message”
A local scavenger intermediary delivers a data shard recovered near the Solace Reliquary access route. It contains a partial, corrupted transmission—never sent, never logged.
Fragments include:
Tactical pathing overlays of the Reliquary interior
Kill-zone markers inside choke corridors
A single repeated phrase in Kumokuni tactical shorthand:
“Engage only after target crosses threshold.”
No sender ID.
No timestamp.
Just preparation.
“Mirage Without Mirrors”
As the party surveys the approach to the Solace Reliquary, the environment subtly shifts.
Sound dampens unnaturally
Snowfall falls too evenly
Footprints fade faster than they should
PCs may experience:
Brief hallucinations of movement inside the bunker before entry
Echoes of their own voices spoken seconds before
One PC hearing their name spoken softly in a familiar voice
These are not psychic attacks.
They are range-finding measures.
RP Hooks:
Azura (after a long silence):
“…She’s choosing the ground.”A Zimovya local warns them without explanation:
“The Reliquary doesn’t kill people. It just makes it easy for others to.”If the party hesitates too long, Azura receives a single, clean ping on a private frequency—no words, no code. Just confirmation.
Naide knows they’re here.
Closing Beat (Transition to Confrontation):
As the party stands before the sealed entrance of the Solace Reliquary, snow settles. Winds die.
The bunker door yawns open like a mouth that has waited years to speak.
Deep inside, unseen:
Kurohana units take silent positions
Optical camouflage fades to near-zero output
Naide waits, centered, composed—not angry, not rushed
This will not be a chase.
This will be a reckoning.
