Chap 1

Dust & Dissonance

🎭 MQ1 – "Ashroad Crossings"

The party travels across the shifting salt plains and cracked obsidian fields of the Dyade's spine, encountering roaming traders, broken machines, and ruins from the First War.

Subquests:

  • “Salt Whisperer” – A solitary traveler offers strange riddles and gives the party a warning in exchange for a shared meal. He vanishes the next morning without a trace.

  • “What Remains” – The party stumbles on a rusted Dämmerlicht exo-frame, half-buried in the sands. Investigating it leads to clues about a prototype rune module.

  • “Shadow Herd” – At night, the party sees a silent stampede of black beasts running under the moonlight. They leave no tracks. Are they real?

Lore Hooks:

  • Discover the Shattertrail, an ancient trade route used by early survivors of the Calamity.

  • A rusted Vultaire beacon reveals their surveillance web reaches even the wastelands.

🎭 MQ2 – “The Faraway Chasm Interlude”

Midway, the party rests at a small cliffside refuge called Stonegale Reach—a semi-nomadic town carved into layered canyon walls.

Subquests:

  • “Mistbloom Market” – A merchant sells rare azure flowers and strange herbs. One blossom reacts to the party’s mana.

  • “The Boy and the Bell” – A mute child gives the PCs a small, cracked bell—one that only rings during a specific time of night. Something answers.

  • “Firelight Tales” – The party can share personal stories with NPCs over a bonfire, unlocking inspiration and possible long-term advantages.

Emotional Beat:

  • Players may meet an elderly widow who reminds them of Auntie Temera. She asks about “the road behind.” Her kindness can hit hard.

Lore Hooks:

  • Learn about the Crimson Sundering, an Ash'Khadiri civil war that tore apart its noble houses.

  • PCs may hear rumors of Al Quasaran’s underground fighting pits and “Runeblood gladiators.”

🎭 MQ3 – "Dust and Dissonance"

As the PCs near Al Quasaran, they pass through zones of increasing civilization—but it's chaotic. Merc posts, outlaw camps, smog-choked mining outposts, and desert shrines blend into a strange borderland mosaic.

Subquests:

  • “Toll of the Nameless” – At a ruined gatehouse, a rogue A.I. entity demands each PC offer a memory or secret in exchange for passage.

  • “Burning Sky” – A massive dust storm reveals a crashed Kumokuni drone—inside is a data crystal with fragments of a forgotten mission log.

  • “Dead Man’s Vote” – The party finds a corpse clutching an election badge. Following the trail leads to a hidden rebel message against Vultaire.

Lore Hooks:

🎭 MQ4 – "Arrival at Al Quasaran"

The horizon blooms with oily fires and glass towers. The party crests a ridge—and sees Al Quasaran, the City of Blades, in full sprawl. Smoke, gold, blood, and tech—all crammed into streets lit by rune-light and crawling with mercenaries, smugglers, and syndicates.

They’ve arrived.

Possible RP Moments:

  • First impression of a ruthless merc town—PCs may witness a public execution, a street duel, or a gladiator recruitment.

  • Learn about the Venomspire, a sleek nightclub and contract hub.

  • Tensions: Do they blend in, join a faction, or disappear?

Next Chapter Tease:
The job board is lit. But not all work is equal.
And the name “Armaros and Volomorg” is whispered like thunder on the horizon…
